Making Sense of Complimentary/Integrative Therapies in the World of Modern Medicine

APRIL 2, 2003

8:00 am-4:00 pm

at the

TROPICANA CASINO-HOTEL
Atlantic City, New Jersey

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Complimentary or integrative therapy has been in existence for centuries and is increasingly being used personally and in health care settings. It is not aimed at replacing scientific medicine but enhancing the personal well being of the individual and the caregiver. Consumers are looking for ways to feel good and be healthy naturally. They are seeking ways to enhance the quality of life through non-invasive forms of health including: exercise, meditation, relaxation, and mind-body interventions. Research suggests that the physiological impact of relaxation may be the result of the effect of a hormone released by the body in response to stress. Participants will receive a basic understanding of mind-body medicine, brief history, be able to incorporate it personally and professionally.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Nurses in all academic and clinical settings, and all health care providers, including students, who are interested in increasing their knowledge of incorporating complimentary therapies into their daily regime.
